Steven reflects on his first 3 months

We were delighted to welcome Stephen to the team in at the end of July this year as a CAD Design Engineer, to assist with the reverse engineering as our company expands. Here Steven discusses his time at Physical Digital so far:

3 months into the job

have been with Physical Digital for just over 3 months now and feel like I have settled into the company well and am really enjoying my time here. All of the staff  have been incredibly accommodating towards all of my questions and interest in learning more about the scanning process and services we provide to our customers. In my short time here I have been exposed to all aspects of the business; from enquiries right through to final communications and delivery to the customer.

As one of the Design Engineer's the bulk of my time here is spent using the Siemens NX CAD package – which was a new software to me when starting. I have been on an introductory training course to allow myself to become more familiar with the intricacies of the program, against those that I have used in previous positions. Following this I have been involved in all facets of design work here; from reverse engineering A-class surfaces for a marine based project, right through to surfacing and solid modelling of power generation turbine blades. I have also been involved in the concept fixture designs for an aerospace engine component.

I recently visited a design studio with our Engineering Manager to complete internal and external scans to see how the Physical Digital team work when they’re out on site. I have also taken a keen interest in the programming and loading of the automated measurement system that we now have in-house, following the move to our new facility.

The range of sectors and projects that I have already been exposed to demonstrates the diversity of knowledge held by the team and flexibility of the scanning systems used for so many applications.

I am really enjoying my new role and am enthusiastic about both my own future and that of the company. I am really excited to be on board at a time where we are competing for large contracts and being a part of a team that is driving the business growth forward in a strong way.
