West Surrey Racing continued their success at Rockingham after maintaining their lead of the Manufacturers’ Standings with 655 points.

Qualifying – Saturday 26th August

Colin Turkington gained a third-row start for Sunday’s race after a strong Qualifying effort. Despite being the heaviest car on the grid due to the 75kg success ballast he carries as championship leader, Turkington still managed to come out in 5th position.

Team-mate Rob Collard managed to secure 20th place after a nail biting finish to the Qualifying session in which the top 27 cars were separated by less than a second.

Andrew Jordan qualified 18th after showing continuous improvement during the races, going from 23rd fastest in the opening practice to 19th in FP2.

Race Day – Sunday 27th August

Team BMW for WSR are currently in the lead for both the Team’s and Manufacturers’ standings with only two more race weekends to go.

Race One saw Colin Turkington secure a well-fought sixth place after carrying the maximum 75kg success ballast. Turkington then gained a podium finish in Race Two after finishing in 3rd, and Race Three saw Colin finish in 6th.

Rob Collard failed to gain a podium finish in the first two races of the weekend, but Collard was hungry for points as he fought through Race Three and managed to climb to fourth place. However, late contact with another car pitched him into the barrier and meant he was out of the race. Despite not gaining a podium finish, Collard moved up to fourth in the Drivers’ Championship and has said he will “come back fighting” at Silverstone on September 16th and 17th.

For Andrew Jordan, Race One and Two saw him finish in 18th and 12th. Due to a reverse grid for Race Three, Andrew was put into pole position where he maintained first place, bringing him up the Drivers’ Championship leader board to 6th.

The British Touring Car Championship continues on Saturday 16th September at Silverstone, the Home of British motorsport.
